3 Candy Cane Cocktails (Quick and Easy)

Large Red Bow and three Peppermint and 3 Candy cane cocktails

These Candy Cane Cocktails, are quick and easy to prepare recipes that will liven up taste buds with different spirits and the flavor of Peppermint.

Candy Cane Crush

An easy holiday season cocktail for those of us that enjoy a concoction of Vodka, Peppermint, and a bit of ‘moo’ at this time of the year.

Candy Cane Crush Cocktail

  • 1-ounce Vodka
  • 1 ounce Peppermint Schnapps
  • 1.5-ounces half and half
  • ¼ ounce Grenadine (adds a bit of pink color)
  • Crushed candy canes

Coat the outside rim of a chilled 4-ounce rocks glass, or similar glass with crushed candy canes (see below.)

Combine all ingredients in the cocktail shaker (preferably stainless steel.)

If possible, do not remove ice from the freezer until you are ready to shake. Regardless of the shape (except crushed), any ice will work, as long as it is not wet, which will water your drink down.

Next, add ice and shake for twelve additional seconds; shaking any longer will not further cool the drink but create more dilution from the ice.

Strain into candy cane coated rim rocks glass.

These are some favorite ingredients, palate-pleasing, and a delicious candy cane cocktail recipe.

An excellent choice for a Holiday cocktail party due to its simplicity, as you could turn them out quite fast.

Crushed Candy Cane

A food processor makes quick work of creating crushed candy canes for these easy recipes, though being careful not to go too far and end up with candy cane powder.

A better way yet is if you have children about, grab a ziplock bag, a kitchen towel, and a cutting board. With the flat side of a tenderizing or rubber mallet (a rolling pin will work) have them smash the candy canes, most will like helping!

You can involve them in a simple but fun task, and they may enjoy a candy cane coated rim on a cup of hot cocoa for their efforts.

Coating the rim of the glass:

Two small plates or saucers will work for this, take one ounce of simple syrup, corn syrup, or even honey and make a circle of the diameter of your chosen cocktail glass (maybe break out the Crystal glassware) on one small plate.

Take your crushed cane canes and make the same diameter circle in the other saucer or second plate.

To coat the rim of your chilled glass, take the glass and directly evenly dip it into the liquid but for a second.

Now take it back out without tipping it and gently place it straight down into the crushed candy cane that should be mounded into a berm on your second saucer.

Once you have done this, turn right side up, and you are done!

The stickier the liquid, the better, as the peppermint candy cane will adhere to the rim of your glass and not want to slide.

If prepping ahead of time, refrigerating these glasses will help keep the candy cane from sliding.

Conclusion:

Preparing and enjoying a candy cane/peppermint-flavored cocktail around the winter solstice and Holiday meal has just become a quick and easy thing to do. Now you can impress your family, friends, and yourself with your mixologist’s talents.

Hi and welcome! When I'm not writing, I can be found in the kitchen as I love to cook; when I'm not writing or cooking, I might be exercising my green thumb; and when I'm not doing any of those things... I might be on a day trip to the mountains or collecting agates on the beach, and sometimes I can be found just reading a book. Have a great day!
